Let the kids find a fascinating new world of discovery at Eureka! The National Children’s Museum. Aimed at children 0-11, nothing is behind a glass cabinet and all displays are super interactive.
“We had a fantastic day out at Eureka! We got to play on lots of different things. There were bits that showed us the inside of our bodies, some shops that we could play in and lots of machines that made different noises. It was brilliant.”Martha & Gracie (both 6), Yorkshire's Best Adventures
What Eureka! says:
Located in the West Yorkshire town of Halifax, Eureka! is the only fully interactive museum in the country that is totally dedicated to children from 0-11. We offer a fun-packed family day out in Yorkshire – and love it when children ask us weird and wonderful questions. We also work hard to give them some of the answers.
On a visit, you’ll come across 400 interactive, hands-on exhibits that are displayed over six galleries and in our outdoor spaces and activity areas. Each area has a unique theme to explore, activities to do and buttons to press – quite a few of them make some noise too!
We have plenty of family events throughout the year, from science experiments to interactive shows – meaning that every time you come, you will get a different experience. We also run our own nursery and can be hired as a quirky venue for a children’s party. We’re easy to find too – just off the M62 between Leeds and Manchester.
The Eureka story started in 1985 when Dame Vivien Duffield was inspired by interactive children’s museums she had seen in America. Dame Vivien believed the UK deserved something similar and Eureka! opened its dooes in July 1992 to become the first national children’s museum.
